Environment

At Red Roadster Classics we realise that there are implications connected to classic car hire and the impact upon the environment, so we are trying to reduce our carbon footprint and manage that impact.  We have been advised on many connected issues by Envision SW (Groundwork Devon & Cornwall) and will be taking the necessary routes to adhere to as many procedures as is practical and possible in the given circumstances.

Part of the measures are simple common sense and area already in place in many homes and businesses, these are things like recycling, using recycled articles, using environmentally friendly washing and cleaning products, using energy saving appliances and saving water whenever possible.  Our business is the same in these departments and we are looking into other measures we can take to help lessen the impact.  One of these will be having a short chat with our customers about driving the vehicles correctly, which helps both in keeping down the emissions and of course lengthening the life of the vehicle.  The longevity of the vehicle is very important both commercially and environmentally as much of the impact is in the production of the vehicle, not in its general use, so the longer we keep them going the better.

As we are trying our best to lessen our carbon footprint it is also important to us that those connected to our business are doing the same, therefore we have endeavoured to use businesses with like minded ideals.  Our stationery suppliers have a good environmental policy - using paper from well managed forests, ink which has a low impact, amongst other things.  Our vehicle maintainers also have policies, including the disposal of waste.

We believe that we are providing a service for the tourist who is already visiting Devon, as well as for locals and our “suggested routes” will take them to existing tourist attractions and take account of environmental issues.

As a business we are also working towards green tourism standards and hope that we can educate others and help to decrease some of the stigma attached to classic cars and their emissions.  We hope to be able to show that you can reduce your carbon footprint substantially.  We are also looking into funding local tree planting through an approved scheme, thus helping to decrease the CO2 in the atmosphere.  This is something that anyone can sponsor in order to reduce their own carbon footprint and also keep our forests and woodlands healthy and in good shape.

Whilst we realise that we are playing but a miniscule part in the grander scheme of things, by helping the environment we hope that this will give us and our customers the satisfaction of knowing that their Red Roadster Classic experience is as sustainable as possible.
