Im new to this blogging lark

Hi, well its been an interesting month! We had a wonderful time with our local MG club (Exeter MG Owners club) and we even had the top down on our gorgeous MGTD for most of the "run" - see the photo. It was Bxxxy cold though and I think our Mg friends thought we were mad!!
We have had a nice surprise with a few enquiries to hire the MGs. Just this week, a lovely couple came down from London on Friday and made the best of a beautiful weekend. We met them at Newton Abbot train station and they scampered off down to Padstowe. I love it when we introduce some one new to the joys of driving a classic MG sportscar and it was lovely to see a young couple enjoying a 70's MGB.
It is also that time of the year when we are getting calls about weddings. The MGs make a real treat as a car for the Groom to drive, particularly if they have the car for a couple of days. Its amazing how many chores the best man and groom can find to do when they have a MG sportscar to do them in!
We are also getting a few enquiries for traditional chauffeured weddings - we have a gorgeous pearlescent white, four seater, 1930's styled Beauford. As well as the usual service and approach to a chauffeured wedding car, we are going to try and see if people would like to drive the Beauford themselves - on a self drive basis. In these times of most people feeling the affects of the credit crunch we are trying to do our bit by offering a cheaper wedding option - drive your own wedding car! Who knows this idea may even take off. Well thats all for now - Heidi

Red Roadster Classics - First Post

Hello and welcome to Red Roadster Classics Car Hire Blog.

Here we will post up everything exciting and upcoming within the world of classic cars, predominently Classic MGs.

Here is some more information about us;

Red Roadster Classics (also known as Devon MG hire), grew from our passion for old British sports cars. There is nothing quite like exploring the beautiful English countryside of Devon, driving a classic car with the top down. You get to see, smell and experience things in a totally new way and often find that you plan your route around the positioning of large window panes in order to admire your reflection as you drive past…

Our cars were chosen for you, based on their - good looks, drivability, reliability and because we thought that you would like them. They are a range of colours and years, so there should be a car to please everybody. If the car you wanted is not in our collection please let us know and we will add it to our “wish” list, with the aim of adding the most requested car to our fleet in the future. If you are not sure which car to choose, you can always have a chat with us before booking or buy a Voucher for that surprise treat or a special occasion. Vouchers make a great gift for Birthdays, anniversaries, Fathers Day, or other special events and a memorable change to chocolates or socks!

The drive is very different from a modern car, more positive and you really feel at one with the road, the car and the environment. However, don’t forget that you need to alter your driving style accordingly as these cars do not have ABS or power steering.

By being aware that you need to be braking earlier and paying more attention to what other drivers are doing - often they are busy admiring the car - you can compensate for the lack of modern technology. Many ladies also enjoy the pleasure of driving a classic and we are very keen to encourage more women to try this for themselves.

As our cars are quite nimble they are great for everybody, whether new to older cars or an experienced enthusiast. Our cars are professionally maintained by a local garage and have roadside / rescue back up just in case. All our cars have hoods and are great fun to drive throughout the year, particularly with the milder climate in the South West.

If you are thinking of buying your own classic car, why not try one of ours first to check to see which type best suits your needs. Or if you used to drive an old car or an MG come and relive the nostalgia, take one of ours out and enjoy a cream tea on your way back from a forest walk or a paddle in the sea.

We are Tim & Heidi, and we have been cruising around the Devon highways, b-roads and country lanes in our 1967 MGB for quite a while now. It has become more than a hobby and we are part of the Exeter Area MG Owners Club (http://www.exetermgoc.co.uk/).

We would like to share our passion for old English cars with you and to encourage others to enjoy the experience, and in turn keep Devon’s roads buzzing with classic cars.
